Documents from the CO interface require an internal number range

What causes this issue?

In cost accounting, postings from other SAP modules are written to
separate documents. The SAP System cannot assign these documents a
number because no number range is maintained for internal number
assignment in controlling area &V2&, transaction &V3&.

How to fix this error?

Maintain number ranges for &V1. To do so, assign &V3& to a group and
define a number range for internal assignment to this group.
