Error during assignment of document number to group

What causes this issue?

In the definition of the reference number for a multiple processing
run, the selected documents (transfer requirements or delivery notes)
must reference the reference number. This assignment is set in a table
(T311B). A system error occurred during the entry of the assignment in
this table.

How to fix this error?
