What causes this issue?

The material belongs to a <GL:material_type>material type</> whose
stocks are not managed on a quantity basis.

System Response

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

How to fix this error?

Enter a different material or terminate processing.

If required, check the setting of the material type for the plant in the
