You cannot enter an "*"

What causes this issue?

In the search help field for master inspection characteristics, you
entered "*". This entry is not supported. In addition, you cannot
create a master inspection characteristic with the identifier "*".

System Response

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

How to fix this error?

Use the input help to select a master inspection characteristic.
