Compounding parent '&1' for nav. attribute '&2' missing (field '&3')

What causes this issue?

The compounding parent of the navigation attribute cannot be found in
the field list of the CompositeProvider.
Either no field is associated with this compounding parent (InfoObject),
or there is an association, but the field is not directly using the
InfoObject name ("direct usage of associated object by name" setting).

System Response

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

How to fix this error?

Associate a field with the compounding parent (InfoObject) and set
"direct usage of associated object by name".
