How can I set up my organization’s manufacturing structure in SAP?

SAP uses organizational units to denote the functional structure of any organization. This includes accounting, human resources, sales, production and other business process. The production planning and manufacturing organizational structure of any company can be primarily represented by the Client, Company Code, Plant and Storage Location. Other structural components that help in breaking down manufacturing structure into components are MRP controllers, production schedulers and capacity planners.
