Overview

Discrete manufacturing, as the name implies, is characterized by “distinction” of the product. It is also referred to as shop floor production. It is used in workshop-driven industries where the products and demand pattern are subject to frequent change. A key feature of discrete manufacturing is that its products are relatively easy to disassemble. Examples include the production of automobiles, electronics and industrial machines. Production orders are used in discrete manufacturing.
