What is an MRP type?

An MRP type is an important control parameter of the MRP processing in SAP. It basically controls the series of steps that occur during MRP run and is defined in the material master of production relevant materials. The various MRP types include ND, PD,P1,P2 and others. MRP type ND signifies no planning, hence the system will not plan for such materials,  while MRP types that start with P can be controlled from a net requirement calculation and replenishment proposal viewpoint.
