What is backflushing in SAP PP?

Backflushing is a way of speeding up the production process by automating the consumption of certain materials during the confirmation process. Here, the system automatically posts goods issue when operations are confirmed. Backflushing typically requires master data setup in the material master, the bill-of-material and the routing or master recipe.
